Development phase

Hi everyone

Here is my understanding of the development phase thus far. This stage is where all the feedback during the analysis phase and creating the learning strategies and the tools that will be used during the design phase is communicated to the key stakeholders.

Would I be correct in my supposition that this can be seen as the "proposal" phase? Proposing to others what the intended module will entail and asking for their input and feedback? The feedback from the stakeholders will then help resolve any challenges pointed out by them and improve the development of course and also reduce the number of iterations before being sent again for another review (this might happen a few times).
I also read that during the development phase it will be good to break the course into sections or modules and to continuously test while developing. This will be good to identify any issues before moving on to the next section and then have a test run to see how well the course is navigated and identify a few last issues before implementing the course.
Just a few thoughts as I plough to the last bit of literature...

  1. I like how you are thinking about the process, Lizel. Often we try to do everything in one big go and when it doesn't work out, are then faced with a feeling of frustration and disappointment.
In the development phase, you are now able to develop a part or what you intend to do with your ethics course. Perhaps the first activity or assignment. If, for example, it is a case study for participants to discuss in a chat forum, perhaps you could use something like screencast-o-matic to create a short YouTube video describing the case to them. You could then share the link with the students and they could watch the video and discuss using the comments section on YouTube/or in a private Facebook group if you go that route/in a whatsapp group if you're going completely mobile. If you went that route, you would have included uploading the video on YouTube as "private and unlisted" to allow for some form of security and provide access only to those who you send the link to. You would then be ready to implement and start thinking about the evaluation phase which would determine whether you continue on this route or change tactics for the next portion of the course.

This is just an idea, but I hope you get the picture and think that you are in the right frame of mind to get this done!

    Good luck!

  2. Very helpful, thank you Lianne! I was also thinking in the line of a discussion forum but now you just gave me more ideas to consider.
